    Lamb.HeisamarinebiologistandworksintheGalapagos(EsterIsland).EsterIslandis
    themostproductiveecosystemoffishontheplanet.Hisjobwastoidentitythefish,how
    bigtheywere,whattheyconsumedasafoodsource,andhowmanywerethereina
    specificarea.Robbiealsokeptalogonwhatspecieswereendangeredtoreportbackto
    themarinebiologyorganizationthatfundshim.

    TheotherdepartmentIvisitedwasallaboutmircoorganisms.Oneofthe
    microorganismstheBrownUniversitystudentstalkedtomygroupandIaboutwas
    meiofaunas.Ameiofaunaisasmallinvertebratethatlivesinbothmarineandfreshwater
    environments.Theyusuallyliveinsoilnearthewater,butthestudentsdidnothaveany
    toshowusbecausetheywereconsumedbyfiddlercrabs.Ialsolearnedaboutsalt
    marshesandhowthestudentswouldsaythereforhourstofinddifferentkindsof
    invertebratestodoresearchon.


    Allinall,Ienjoyedeverymomentofmyjobshadow!Ilearnedaboutdifferent
    typesoforganismsandmarinelifeandhadtheopportunitytolearnfromacollege
    professorinmydreamschool.IamforevergratefulforRobbiegivingmetheopportunity
    toundergoahandsonexperienceinastateofthearctechnologylab.Ihighly
    recommendthisjobshadowexperiencetoanotherstudentbecauseyoulearnmoreabout
    yourenvironmentandthisexperiencecouldpotentiallybepartofyourservicelearningor
    seniorprojectifyouchosetotakethatroute.
