Its kind of a funny story

Realistic Fiction
15 year old Craig Gilner was dealing with a drug problem and slight depression
when he tried to commit suicide. Before he could he called a suicide helpline and was
directed to the nearest hospital. Craig had many experiences in the Hospital and
learned many lessons along the way and was eventually rehabilitated.
One passage I enjoyed reading was when craig was talking to one of the patients
there,Muqtada, in the North Wing where the help center was. He was trying to help him
get closer to being rehabilitated. Remember when you saved me from that girl? Yes.
Im trying to do the same thing for you now, to get you out of your room and save
you(425-426). This part was toward the end of the book and shows how Craig has
grown to be able to help others instead of having to focus on fixing himself. Overall it
shows the growth in the character and far they had come to come from crippling
depression to being able to help others.
I would recommend this book with caution because it does deal with mature
topics as well as graphic scenes. This book is definitely PG-13.

Elizabeth Liz Hall has died right before her 16 th birthday. In elsewhere she
meets her Grandmother and makes many odd friend. There is also a bout of romance
and the book is guaranteed to keep one reading.
My favorite part is when Liz just died because she didnt know how she died and
confusion was what keeps the reader reading so they can find out how. This is the
coolest dream ever, says Liz, feeling pleased that her subconscious has introduced
Curtis Jest to the dream. This to me makes the character relatable she thinks shes
dreaming and there are many other parts of the book that make the character realistic.
She talks about her wants and her experience just like the other characters each one
has their own needs and they express emotions that everyone can relate too. To
conclude the characters are realistic because they are relatable.
I would definitely recommend this book because its quick paced and so good
that I read it in 5 hours.

Struck by lightning

Realistic Fiction
Carson Phillips is a teenage boy who just wants to be a journalist. He is the
journalist group's president and therefore is represented in student council. All he wants
to do is get into college but one event leads to another and he is now swimming in
doubt because his group was a flop. His best and only friend also seems to make thing
worse because she doesnt know how to write her own stories so she plagiarizes
everything she writes.
My favorite part is the when Carson finally yells at his group to get them on task
so he can write a book to get into the college of his dreams. Sure they all hate me, I
went on. But thats because Im the only one in this town with an IQ larger than my
shoe sizeThis was the turning point in the book. It made Carson realize he had the
power to achieve his goals. In addition it also makes his friend respect him more and
see him as a role model.Afterwards, carson seems to handle everything with ease
because of his new found self empowerment.
I would recommend this book because it is like looking into the teenage mind
though I do so with caution because there are swears littered across the pages.

Fiction, Horror
This book follows 17 year-old Nick Sole.Nick works at a chicken factory. Nick
decides to rename himself Nero when he entered the camp. When Nero goes without
sleep he gets into serious trouble and is sent away to a juvenile delinquents camp. The
camp is a boys-in-one-group-and-girls-in-another camp. However, one girl was in the
boys. When the boys in the camp wake up they discover that the female along with the
two counselors that were with them were zombified and were feeding on one other boy.
In the end Nero makes a choice that changes the direction of the problem.
I would recommend this book with caution because of the language in this book.
The book was a great read that kept me on my toes the entire time. I loved how the
author wrote because their writing style is as if a Nick was writing a diary.
ZOMBRULE #1:Always assume theres a zombie or six in the bushes when the
orchestra begins to ramp up. Because-and this is vital- you can hear the moaning and

you can smell the flesh, but the soundtrack is like GPA- whethers its speed metal or
Doris Day, theme music is the one sound that will never let you down.pg 117
