Jean has been « member of our science department and restructuring team for the past two years, Jean teaches chemistry and works with the AVID program. Thave observed, first hand, the positive impact and varied contributions Mrs. ‘Laurance has made to Dundee-Crown High School and Di this past year. In the area of instruction, Jean isa valued team leader in our building, She leads a challenging group of veteran teachers who had formed a tight bond and had limited experience with the professional learning community process. She responded well. She has participated on our Schoo! Improvement Teamn and provides needed direction to her course and distrit Subject Arca Committee (SAC). Jean provided the needed direetion and. ‘modeling with her team to develop a self-paced, standards-based mastery approach to learning and assessment in advanced chemistry. She and her team developed policies and procedures to intervene with struggling students and increase success in the chemistry classtoom, Mrs. Laurance’s leadership with these initiatives supported by her team will, undoubtedly, drive student success in science this year. Jean isa gifted teacher who is adept at meeting the needs of the diverse learners. She makes challenging concepts easy to understand and creates relevance by linking learning with “real life” applications, Mrs. Laurance’s contributions extend beyond the building level. She participated in district efforts to design and align common summative assessments with the College/Career Readiness Standards from ACT. She has made ficant contributions with ths as a result of her continued learning through participation with intemal university ‘courses in assessment literacy and implementing formative assessment in the lassroom. Mrs, Laurance keeps abreast ofthe latest educational research and looks for ways to apply it tothe work of her classroom and team. Jean continues to work hard to increase capacity of the team through establishing clear Tearing standards gd ‘expectations, Under her guidance, the chemistry team took the lead in initiating course based learning interventions. She and the team of teachers continue to evaluate and revise the system curently in place for improvement. Jean is very organized and efficient. Her knowledge of the CRS standards is extensive and her ability to help all ‘community members understand is commendable, She leads organized, purposeful team meetings, always focusing ‘om the goals ofthe school and the growth of our students and staff. She is very professional in her approach to her role asa leader in our building, Mis. Laurance continually helps us consider issues relative to student, teacher, and parent impact. She isa team player willingly giving of her time and support to help with any school wide concern. ‘As Dundee-Crown High School continues with restructuring, with a possible twist being added by the Race to the ‘Top initiative, the overall employment environment inthe district is uncertain, Unfortunately, we will be losing some of our key teacher-leaders as they seek positions that offer 2 more stable working environment and continue to challenge ther skill Ievels. Mrs. Laurance will be a quality asset to your school and distrit, She has definitely Tefla positive Footprint on Dundee-Crown High School during her time with us. It is with my full support and encouragement that | recommend Jean Lauranes for an educational leadership position with your school. espectlly submited, ea TTA Prt Terrance M. Mootz
