    fordressingoractingoutofthenorm.InAmerica,wehavemovedforwardendingslavery,civil
    rightsmovement,LGBT+rights.Butevenafterallofthis,westillhavemanyissues:Racism,
    homophobia,womenrights.Manyoftheseissuesaredifficulttosolvebecauseofthediversityof
    opinionsinvolvingreligionandpersonalfeelings.Outofalloftheseissues,theonethatcan
    easilybesolvedisthereputation,thestigmaofmentalillness.Peoplewithmentaldisorders
    identifyemploymentdiscriminationasoneoftheirmostfrequentstigmaexperiences.1*2Fearof
    stigmaandrejectionbyfutureemployersmaydamageconfidenceandresultinaworstshowing
    onjobinterviews.Overtime,peoplewithmentaldisordersmaynoteventrytolookforajob
    theyviewthemselvesasunemployableandstopseekingwork.
    AlthoughtheAmericanswithDisabilitiesAct(ADA)protectspeoplewithmentalillness
    by[prohibiting]discriminationand[ensuring]equalopportunityforpersonswithdisabilitiesin
    employment,Stateandlocalgovernmentservices,publicaccommodations,commercial
    facilities,andtransportation,3thesourceoftheproblemhasnotbeentackled.Forareal
    solution,wemuststartwiththeyouth.IntheRhodeIslandDepartmentofEducation(RIDE)
    website,intheHealthEducationsectionmentalhealthisthesecondcategoryyetstudentsbarely
    knowthebasicsofsignsandeffectsthatcomewithmentalillness.Inmiddleschoolsandhigh
    schools,ifyouweretoaskarandomstudentwhattheylearnedinhealthclass,theywould
    answerhowtoputonanytypeofcondomandwhatSTIsandSTDslooklike.Notthatsexual
    healthisntimportant,butlearningaboutthesamethingoverthecourseof7yearsisridiculous.
    Inmanystates,Statelawrequiressexualityeducation.ShouldntthesamebeappliedtoMental
    Health?Inordertoendthestigmaofmentalhealthinthefuture,wemuststartwiththefutureof
    America:theyouth.
