However, transgender and gender non-conforming people are often misunderstood and unnecessarily pathologized. Gender variant folks do face real and unique challenges. Increase your knowledge of the gender spectrum, including transgender and gender non-conforming people, as well as some special clinical concerns when working with this population, to better serve your clients and increase the inclusiveness of your practice. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: Understand and define basic concepts related to gender, such as physical sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation, including understanding the inter-relationships of these concepts. Gain knowledge of the prevalence and diversity of gender variance and the challenges faced by gender variant people.
