A one day workshop was held at SMK Nabawan 2, to which all level one teachers in the zone were
invited, run by Sam Murdoch and Brian Elliston.
Attendance was high (only one level one teacher was missing from Brians sub-cluster because her
GB had held her back, having sent two others instead). A number of teachers from non-project
schools also attended.
Attendees were given a presentation on active learning by two of Sams mentees, and received
instructions that in groups of three, all teaching the same year class, they had to choose any
appropriate unit for teaching early in the year from the course book, and produce 6 lesson plans
(ideally including one reading lesson) which should include an introduction and at least three
activities. Two groups formed for each of the three years and carried out the instructions.
Copies of the plans are in a separate folder.
All present received copies of all the plans, and the intention is to disseminate them more widely
once they have been refined through use and reconsideration at future lesson planning meetings.
