ABSOLUTE STEERING POSITION (APS) CALIBRATION ON ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)


Description

This bulletin provides the Absolute Steering Position (ASP) calibration methods on ELANTRA (HD) and i30
(FD) Electric Power Steering wheels (EPS or Motor-Driven Power Steering), required when the battery is
discharged or after the battery or EPS-related parts are replaced with new ones.
NOTE)
If the EPS ASP calibration is not conducted when the battery is discharged or after the battery or
EPS-related parts are replaced, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP)/Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
warning lamp will be turned on and the automatic EPS return-to-center control will not be performed.

2) EPS ASP calibration method available by a driver


With the engine started, turn the steering wheel right and left each over 360. For example, turn the
steering wheel to the left over 360 and return it to the original position and then turn it to the right over
360 and return it.
Stop the engine then restart it. The EPS/ESC warning lamp will be turned off then EPS ASP calibration
procedure is completed.
- Please try to use the method 1) using a scan tool at service repair shops.
