The Panamanian paradise, San Blas Islands

Imagine a turquoise archipelago with an island for every day of the year.
With white sand and swaying palm trees, this wonderful place is San Blas;
a good place to rest, relax and enjoy of the virgin nature. Considered by
many travelers as an earthly paradise, the archipelago of San Blas is
located northwest of Panama on the Caribbean Sea and consists of 365
scattered islands around in an area about 100 square miles, and only 36
of these islands are inhabited by the Kuna people, natives of this place,
they care and protect this Panamanian paradise. At San Blas we can arrive
by air and land. By plane, through the Air Panama airline, leaving Albrook
Airport and the flight has a duration of 30 minutes. While road, it is better
to hire the services of authorized companies with vehicles and relevant
experience.
On the other side we can emphasize that San Blas has a privileged climate
all year round and is ideal for all types of travelers, although , the
archipelago of San Blas is not just a beach destination because we can

visit the villages of the Gunas and share them to know their culture,
traditions, lifestyle and others.

On these islands there is a diversity of corals. Naturally, they have many


palm trees and the water is really beautiful, you can notice that blue water
and white sand. As for wildlife, there are no wild species which inhabit; the
Gunas have known this region. Despite elapse time they stay with the
same traditions, they share the same ideas and has been well cared San
Blas Islands, ideal for a Caribbean destination where the culture of its
people is mixed with each of the activities that we perform.

Over the years these islands have been the subject of numerous
articles in National Geographic.
San Blas Islands were selected as one of two "best cruise
destinations in the world" by magazines Cruising World and Le
Monde Voyage.
The program of the American television network CBS "Survivor"
selected an island of the archipelago of San Blas known for its idyllic
landscape, Sapbeinega, for a party of reward offered to competitors
who had appeared in programming.

Perro island is located the famous wreck, it is explored daily by


diving enthusiasts There are several versions of how the ship ran
aground. The best of all is known that it was a ship carrying
contraband transiting dry night and ran aground on the sandbank
of the island. What we do know is that the ship has been there
about 70 years.
In handicrafts the women excel in making molas, several pieces of
fabric, one on top of another, and stitched with a special stitch,
obtaining beautiful colorful designs. Some molas can be appraised
the sky, forests, the surface and the bottom of the sea with all its
ecological diversity.

As for the houses the Gunas sleep in ecological accommodations


made by themselves from natural materials found on the islands and
in the jungle such as straw, stalks and reed.

Reasons to visit San Blas:

1. It is a quiet place to relax and appreciate the beauty of nature.

2. Visit the villages of the Indian Gunas to learn about their fascinating
culture and way of life.

3. Eat delicious lobsters and seafood at a good price.

4. Snorkel around a sunken boat in Perro Island.

5. Appreciate the beautiful crafts such as molas.

6. You can stay in quiet ecological houses and you can relax in the
Panamanian paradise.

ao. Con arena blanca y palmeras ondulantes, este maravilloso lugar
es San Blas; un buen lugar para descansar, relajarse y disfrutar de
la naturaleza virgen. Considerado por muchos viajeros como un
paraso terrenal, el archipilago de San Blas se encuentra al
noroeste de Panam frente al Mar Caribe y est conformado por 365
islas que se distribuyen alrededor en un rea cerca de 100 millas
cuadradas, y tan solo 36 de esas islas estn habitadas por el pueblo
Guna, nativos de este lugar que cuidan y protegen este paraso
panameo.
Por otro lado podemos destacar que San Blas posee un clima
privilegiado todo el ao y es ideal para todo tipo de viajero, aunque,
el archipilago de San Blas no slo es un destino de playa ya que
podremos visitar los caseros de los Gunas y compartir con ellos
para conocer su cultura, tradiciones, forma de vida y otros.
