PROCESS DESCRIPTION OF ROLLING MILL

On receipt of requirements identified in production plan from marketing


department, it is ensure that billets of required specs are available. Billets are
rolled into TMT (HSD) bars & rolled sections of specified requirements.
As per required chemical & Physical properties conforming to Specification for
High Strength Deformed Steel bars and wires as per IS-1786:2008 and
desired lengths are charged in pulverized coal fired Reheating furnace. Billets
moved into Reheating furnace by hydraulic pusher. In Preheating, Heating &
Soaking zones billets are properly heated & soaked at 1180C to 1280C then
discharged for rolling.
These billets are then processed into two 18 Rouging stand and then after
continuous 12 stand as per required size. After that final shape, bar passed
into Thermax Quenching system and Cooling bed. In this system three stage
thermo- mechanical treatment as Quenching, Tempering and Atmospheric
Cooling are done.
After cooling on cooling bed these bars are cut in single length as per
customer requirements at cold shear machine. These bars then are stacked in
stock yard as per their size & grade.
