A case summary

Steven Van der Vaart, an undercover cop was accused of illicit enrichment, after authorities found
$ 5 million in his home in a luxury district of Miami.
The investigations were due to anonymous complaints, the police then debited from his account
more than one hundred thousand dollars. And it was found that owned multiple mansions and
farms, and he could not explain the origin of the money. It is presumed to be proceeds of drug
trafficking because the police worked in an undercover operation in one of the most powerful
cartels.
He worked undercover police for three years that was enough time to generate his illicit fortune.
Annexes with drug lords allowed him to travel to many places around the world, being part of
illicit negotiations. It will also be charged with drug trafficking, because in one of his mansions
two tons of drugs were found, which presumably would be sent to Japan.
The judge ordered the sentence of 25 years in prison on charges of illicit enrichment and drugs
trafficking.
