The Nightmare
Newt was a little cute 6-year old boy who had big blue innocent eyes
with chubby cheeks and blonde hair. He lived with his father and his auntie in a
small wooden house near the Sheerywood Forest. His father earned a living as a
woodcutter. He was a big strong man. He looked aggressive with square shaped
faces and the clear jaw line but had a gentle manner and soft voice which was
contrast to his physical body at all. He always left home early in the morning
and came back home late at night every day. He rarely saw his father as he had
gone slept when his father went home at night. He spent his days and nights
with his auntie called Mary. Mary was a single 43 years old lady who had red
curly hair and big sparking green eyes that made Newt think she might be a
witch. She loved cooking and enjoyed eating all the time. You would know
where she was by the clumsy sound she always made like Oops Ouch and
Whew. Anyway, she quite took good care of Newt as she considered him as her
own child. Mary had done all the housework, doing her favorite cooking and
raising Newt at the same time. He sometimes had wondered how she could
manage all stuffs in one day and he had a crazy idea that his auntie might use
her magic to help her finishes all the chores.
Newt had not seen his mother since he was a little boy because his mother
had died in the car accident while driving home from work 5 years ago. He could
imagine his mother from the photo his father put it on the table near his bed. In
the photo, his mother was holding him in her arms. She looked so bright and
happy in her yellow floral printed skater dress. He resembled his mother with
her big blue eyes and blond hair. He also had white skin like his mother. If he
sat in the dark, his skin was glowing as a flashlight in the middle of the darkness.
His father said that Newt looked like his mother so much so he sometimes did
not want to look at Newt who made his father miss her so much. Thats why he
was not familiar with his dad and tried to avoid him by spending his times
playing alone in his bedroom with his teddy bear which his favorite doll. He
received the teddy bear as a birthday gift last year from his father. He was quite
surprised that his father bought a present for him. When he thanked his dad, his
dad told him that he got the teddy bear from an old lady in the market. The old
lady handed the teddy bear to his dad and told him to keep it carefully because it
would save his family one day. His dad tried to refuse it but the old lady
disappeared like she had never been there before. When Newt saw the teddy
bear, it reminded him of his mother because the teddy bears eyes were so dark
blue like his mothers and its skin was so soft and white but his belly was big like
it contained something round inside it. From that day, Newt and the teddy bear
were never apart. He always carried it with him all the time.
Newt always stayed at home because he had an uncommon disease. He
could not expose himself in the sunlight without getting burnt. That was the
lesson why his skin was so white like a snow flask. His aunt always kept the
curtains closed all the times to make sure that the sunlight could not penetrate
inside the house and hurt him. So he spent his life in the small room and
promised his aunt not to step outside the house as he knew well how the hurting
he felt if he broke his promise.

One night, Newt was wearing dotted star pajamas and carried a teddy
bear that its body made from cotton clothes and its red scarf made from wool.
While he was watching his favorite movie called Bizarre Creatures of East End
on the softy yellow couch, Mary, his auntie tiptoed into his room holding a cup of
hot chocolate with sweet mash mellow, his favorite drink. He turned around
when he heard a sneeze voice and caught the cup in time before it was spilling
into the floor He hurriedly took that cup and drank it all at once with no concern
that it would burn his mouth or not. With an empty cup in his hand, Newt felt
sleepy but tried to thank his auntie and said goodnight to her. While he was
crawling to his bed, he had not forgotten to get his teddy bear to go to bed with
him. In his half sleep and half awake, he found himself waking up in the middle of
the forest that he didn't know. So he decided to take a walk and look around the
forest. His teddy bears eyes illuminated as a flashlight and warmed Newt in the
dark cold forest. When he walked deeper and deeper into the wood, he was
surprised that he must be in a fairy tale forest. Because all trees had gold and
silver leaves and their fruits were all diamonds. The river was so pure and
crystal and shown the lovely full moon in the middle of it. Moreover, the place
was full of strange animals. There were creatures with half lion and swan passing
him, half elephant and fish, and mermaids with little snakes on their heads
bathing and laughing with the tiny fairy angels. These bizarre creatures he would
never see in his normal life before. He realized that he must be in the Himapan
Forest because his aunt always told him a story of Himapan Forest, which was
full of weird creatures and peculiar things before he went to sleep every night.
But he couldnt believe his eyes that this land was so real because he was in the
technology age that science can prove everything and no one never found this
place before. Suddenly one giant bird Garuda flew towards him and tried to
catch him and took him to its giant nest in the big tree to feed its baby but he
could manage to escape from Garuda by inches. So the Garuda was angry and
attacked him more fiercely and aimed to catch his teddy bear instead. Newt ran
desperately and almost reached the big rock. He tried to throw his teddy bear
behind that rock, but unfortunately Garuda caught his teddy bear and tore it into
pieces. Now he had no place to hide and the Garuda was coming!!! And, then he
woke up with sweat all over his face.
He realized that he just had a nightmare. He thought that it might be the
result of the hot chocolate drink that he had before going to sleep, but it was so
real that he could smell the unpleasant odor of big bird Garuda. Abruptly, he
remembered that Garuda took his teddy bear and now he just noticed that his
teddy bear had disappeared. He leaped out of his bed and looked for his teddy
bear everywhere, but could not find it. Then he noticed that a window was wide
opened, he looked out and caught a vision of a big bird soared up into the sky
with something white like his teddy bear in his mouth. He swiftly took his
slingshot that he always kept under his pillow and aimed at the big bird. He shot
him with a big stone. The bird as the marked target got hurt and cried out loud
with pain. As it opened his big mouth, the teddy bear falls down into the
backyard of the house. Newt, with no hesitation, ran to the backyard and picked
up his beloved teddy bear. He got rid of the dirt and leaves from his teddy bear
with relief. But when he looks up in the sky, unexpectedly, the rookery in the
night sky flew straight to him. The crow with its large crimson eyes tried to grab
his teddy bear again. He falls down and the rookery scratched his left arm with
his sharp claws. He turned over and bounced to the ground and ran into the
firewood shed. He felt the pain and got bleeding from the wound. When he got
inside the firewood shed, he tried to close the door but he could not. The rookery
was now at the doorstep and got closer and closer to Newt. He closed his eyes,

thinking of his mother. Suddenly, the rookery flew away from the door and cried
in pain. He did not know why the rookery easily left him. He held his teddy bear
in his arm and slowly walked out of the firewood shed and looked for the rookery
but there was no sign of it anywhere. Newt still wondered why that bird wanted
his teddy bear. He placed his teddy bear gently on his bed. While he was
checking the condition of his teddy bear, he noticed that there was a big shadow
casting down on the floor. He turned around slowly and faced the shadows
owner. The appearance of that shadows owner made him freaking out and
fainted.
Newt woke up in the morning. He felt relieved that it was just only a dream.
He thought that he dreamt a lot of bad things last night and it was just a
nightmare. He looked at the alarm and its clock hand showed that it was just
4:30 oclock in the morning. He tried to go to sleep again, but he could not. He
was so afraid that he would get a nightmare again. So he walked and walked
restlessly around his own bed and thought that he should tell his nightmare to
his dad the first thing in the morning and hoped that his dad would listen to him
and made a good cup of hot chocolate for soothing him. Suddenly, he thought of
his teddy bear so he jumped to his bed, but he could not find it! He got panicky
nervous. He hit his face several times and try to make himself wake up and to
make sure that he was not in a dream. Hopelessly, his teddy bear was really
gone. Then he opened his bedrooms door and crept slowly downstairs. He found
the baseball stick and grabbed it as his weapon. He walked pass the hallway and
went towards the living room. He heard a whimper at the corner but found
nothing except the darkness. He had no problem walking in the dark because he
got used to it as a result of never going outside caused by his illness. While he
was entering the kitchen, he saw the light shining under the kitchen door. When
he opened the kitchen door, he surprisingly found a woman holding his teddy
bear and talking to the dark shadow he saw in his dream. The woman had blond
hair with the height of around 170cm wearing dressy black cocktail dress. "Who
are you?" Newt asked that woman and when she turned herself and confronted
Newt.
Newt felt like the world stopped turning. He remembered her blue eyes
and her blond hair, especially her smile because she looked like a woman in the
photo that Newt looked at every day. Now he recognized that woman was his
mother. "You now remember me?" She spoke gladly and learned to
embrace him Long time no see" Newt cried out loud I think you had been
already dead." He hugged his mother tightly because he did not want to lose her
again and he missed her so much. He always thought what smell of his mother
would be and he knew it. His mother smelled like jasmine and lavender
mixing together. "Can I borrow your teddy bear?" Her mother said gently and
held up his teddy bear. Newt quickly grabbed his teddy bear with his right hand
and held it up high. "No!!!! This teddy bear belongs to me. You have no right to
take it away. His mother looked angry and tried to snatch fiercely the teddy
bear from his hand. Both persons now seem like strangers to each other and
tried to take that teddy bear. Five minutes passed, the teddy bear started to tear
apart, suddenly, something dropped out of the teddy bears belly. The round
stone looked so bloody red in the middle of the room.
The dark shadow was flying from nowhere and swiftly grabbed the stone in
time before falling to the floor. "I have what I want. You two can go on fighting,
ha...ha...ha" Newt asked his mother what is it?" It is immortal stone, whoever
possesses it, will live eternity His mother said. When Newt knew the truth, he

turned to face the dark shadow and fearlessly fought with the Dark Shadow with
his baseball strike. He hit the Dark shadow at its left shoulder several times. He
wondered where he got the strength from. The Dark Shadow was quite angry and
tried to kill him. It roared in painfully and scratched its long sharp claws to
Newts face. He got hurt and had a bleeding. The Dark shadow stabbed its nail
to Newt again, but it missed the target. He jumped to hide behind the big black
sofa. The Dark Shadow tore the sofa into pieces. He grabbed the lamp near the
sofa and throw it in the Dark Shadows face. It cried out loudly in pain as its face
was burning. He took the time and ran desperately to the end of the hallway. The
Dark Shadow untiring ran after him. While the Dark Shadow was trying to stab its
sharp claws to the Newts back, his mother pulled herself in the middle to cover
him. Newts mother was penetrated by the Dark shadows long sharp nails. With
no sound from her mouth, his injured mother grasped the immortal stone from
the Dark Shadows claw and used her scepter destroying it with no hesitation.
Suddenly, there was a massive red smoke everywhere. The immortal
stone gradually melts down into white lava and disappeared. The Dark shadow
swiftly flew to the window and screaming in anger. His mother laid down on
the floor, smiling at him for the last time. Her body slowly fades away. Everything
in the room now went back to normal like there was no battle at all. He felt
confused. Where was his mother? Where was the Dark Shadow? Both of them
had disappeared. But something was lying down on the floor, which Newt found
out that was his torn up Teddy Bear. He held his teddy bear in his arm and
wondered, this is another nightmare or not because he felt no pain anymore and
his teddy bear seem smiling at him like the way his mother smile at him. He
knew for one thing that this nightmare can keep him close to his mother for the
rest of his life.
