Letter of Recommendation
Jessica Diaz
To Whom It May Concern:
Itis an extreme and genuine pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Jessica
Diaz. I had the pleasure of supervising Jessica during the spring of 2015 for her
Advanced Field Experience. Jessica was assigned to a first grade classroom at Grand
Prairie Elementary School in Frankfort, Illinois for fifteen weeks in which she was able
to take over all responsibilities. Jessica worked exceptionally well with her cooper
teacher, using all seven of the co-teaching strategies to provide students with as much
direct instruction as possible, She planned and implemented lessons in shared reading,
guided reading (five groups), writing, Words Their Way, math, and guided math groups.
Jessica displays an enormous amount of professionalism and did an excellent job writing
lesson plans, reflections, and goals. She planned accommodations for students with
remedial or enrichment needs as well as planning varied lessons to accommodate
different learning styles. She used games, manipulatives, turn and talks, modeling,
graphic organizers, cooperative learning, anchor charts, whiteboards, centers, and
lual conferencing to enhance learning. Formal and informal assessments were used
daily to make data informed decisions about lessons and learning groups. As part of the
professional community, Jessica attended grade level meetings, staff meetings, IEP
meetings, institutes, 504 development meetings, and a Parent Math Night, I was amazed
at Jessica’s classroom management skills. She developed a wonderful rapport with her
students while establishing a positive climate with high levels of learning and very, very
little down-time. There were rules and consequences, praise, positive rewards, and
‘mutual respect between students and teacher. Jessica is extremely organized, hard-
working, positive, upbeat, conscientious, and genuinely cares about the students and tries
to make each day a meaningful experience.
I would highly recommend Jessica for any elementary teaching position. She would be a
valuable asset to any opportunistic school district. Please feel free to contact me at

detail
