seceding from the Union and the reasons the Union desired to
stay together.
-The students will engage in a readers theatre act where the
states become characters who are students at a school to
understand the reasons for various states seceding from the
Union.
-Students will work together in supportive groups to practice
lines
-Students will analyze the play and connect it to actual
historical events to better understanding the beginning of the
war.

Plays will be on each desk. Supplies scattered about the other
desk in the room.
We will go over as a class the Secession Acts of each
Confederate State
Instructional Input and Procedures:
-Students will volunteer for parts, highlight their lines and
separate into groups to rehearse (10 min).
