When people experience stress, a significant event, depression or

other symptoms, they employ their own ways of coping. Often things
get better. Sometimes they do not. It takes time for people to get help.
Naturally, some people are uneasy to seek treatment because they are
afraid that the professional will think they are weak. Others are afraid
to be in therapy forever. According to this chapter, the median delay
for seeking treatment is about six years for bipolar disorder, eight
years for depression, and up to ten years for panic disorders. About
fifteen percent of the population seeks mental health treatment
immediately when needed, especially for depression and anxiety. Many
of these people go to therapists, counselor, psychotherapist,
psychiatrists, and clinical psychologists. Psychologist mostly used
short-term psychodynamic therapy; the client and therapist
relationship is much more casual and they sis face to face in chairs. It
lasts about 12 to 50 weekly sessions. Other treatments are: the
humanistic therapy, behavior therapy, classical conditioning therapy,
operant conditioning therapy, cognitive therapies and many others.
