We joined an international group of scientists ata lion research station, and for five years now we've been living in tents in the middle of nowhere. In my book, there are lots of funny stories about our lives here. For example, when | go to bed, | have to check for scorpions before | get 1n- but | don't mind that. The only thing | regret is not having walls to put posters on. There's a kitchen tent and a living room tent with a video so I can stil watch "FRIENDS" in the evenings. There are no fences around our camp, and i's dangerous to walk around after dark, so we drive - even from the lounge tent to my bedroom tent! Occasionally | think "What if an animal is lying round the comer and kills me!" but usually I'm fine. Once | tured a corner in the car (I've driven since | was nine) and there was a huge bull elephant, and | stalled the car. Luckily the elephant swerved and missed us, but not by much! Another time my brother trod on a scorpion, and he was in agony for days. And we got spiders in our tents, the size of CDs, but I'm not scared of them. And as for lions, | started working with them when I was nine, and they're just the most wonderful creatures in the world. People always ask me if | miss my friends and family in England. | do, but | keep in touch with them by email, and I love getting news from them. When | visit the UK | do notice I'm not as into fashion and make-up as my girfriends. Sometimes in Botswana | miss cold weather, but 'm glad I lve in Africa. We have such a different life but | wouldn't exchange it for anything in the world. Me and my brother have even had the chance to write a book about our life, something | never would have done at home. We don't go to school, Mum tutors us at home and we finish by 11am because the heat makes it hard to concentrate. | spend the rest of the day working with lions. Take it from me - nothing beats walking around barefoot and being outside in the sunshine. | feel very lucky the way | do. = Put these sentences in the order that the information comes in the text by numbering them in the correct order from 1-8. admits she sometimes feels afraid. mentions a special skill, usually done by adults tells us about something extraordinary she did together with her brother describes a dangerous situation she was once describes the research station's facilites. says why her family moved to Africa. 9 explains what she does before going to bed. describes her feelings about lions. bw | Papiermihlestrasse 65 | 3014 Bern | Tel. 031 330 19 90 | info@bwabern.ch | www.bwdbem.ch BMS 1 Aufnahmepriifung 2014 2 bwd Now answer these multiple-choice questions (1 answer only!).
