Personal Statement

Since early childhood I have displayed entrepreneurialspirit and leadership skills; organizing
peers into clubs and groups, setting up stalls to sell hand made goods and iced lemonade and
assisting my father to select colour schemes for his interior decorating business. So it was
inevitable that my career path would eventually lead me toward the field of management and
business.
Looking back it is extraordinary how my career,spanning 30 years,has evolved from Fashion
Designer for leading UK manufactures to establishing and managing a large, successful nursery
chain in the United Arab Emirates. Parallel to this I have founded and continue to run an
SME,Rentacrib LLC, which has been providing safety solutions to families and visitors to Dubai
for over a decade.
My business acumen and management skills are intrinsic and essential to both my current
position as Head of Nurseries for Amity Education Middle East as well as to developing
Rentacrib LLC expand toward becoming a franchise, established in various regions of the Middle
East.
Additionally, my skills have developed through solid work and business experiences, various
professional developmenttraining opportunities during my teaching years and from holding a
keen interest in the philosophies of business leaders and gurus such as Tony Hsie, Richard
Branson and Anita Roddick to name a few. However, gaining an MBA in Management
Specialisation would offer me the opportunity to consolidate my experiences and skills as well
as gain further skills and insights in field of management and business administration.
I believe I am especially suited to this particular course as the modules are relevant to my
experiences and current career as a leader and business woman. For example,I am actively
involved in corporate matters, decision making, human resources, strategic planning, creating
policies and marketing in both sides of my career. Additionally, the flexibility of being able to fit
the course around my role as a busy single mother to 3 teenagers suits my personal life very
well.
Gaining this MBA would enable me to lead, manage and develop businesses with the full
confidence of holding a highly respected formal qualification. Being able to share and utilize
that which I have learned and subsequently inspire those I work with, would give me great
satisfaction. I hope that my application to be accepted on the MBA course and as a scholarship
student would be considered.
