Procedure

1) An empty 50ml beaker is wiped. It is then weighed on an analytical


balance.
2) 10ml of water is poured into the beaker with the help of burette.
3) The beaker which contains 10ml of water is then weighed again on the
analytical balance.
4) The mass of water transferred is calculated using this formula :
Mass of water transferred =
Mass of beaker with water - mass of empty beaker
5) The density of water is calculated by the formula :
Density of water = Mass
Volume
6) Steps 1-5 are repeated twice. The density of water is recorded.
7) The average density of water is calculated.
8) The experiment is repeated by replacing burette with pipette and
measuring cylinder.
