Group 3: Purpose of the Origin of the Universe and Man

1. Zoroastrianism
Purpose of the Universe
- God created the worlds and its beings essentially to execute His
plan to isolate and combat evil and get rid of it eventually.
- The universe will serve as the home and the setting of living
things where he executed his plan of warfare.
Purpose of Man
- To serve the Creator and to honour the Seven Creations.
- Humans are called to be the Creators assistants to restore harmony
in a world broken by evil.
2. Judaism
Purpose of the Universe
- God created the universe in order that he should be able to do
kindness for the people in it. He wanted to have a relationship with
his creations in which they could absorb all the kindness that they
are capable of receiving.
Purpose of Man
- According to classical rabbinic Judaism, human beings represent the
pinnacle of creation and are indebted to their creator.
- God created mankind so that they become godly, be raised up as
Gods chosen people, and to become a light to the nations.
3. Islam
Purpose of the Universe
- I have created the jinn and humankind only for My worship
- The whole universe is Muslim because it surrenders to the divine
purpose.
Purpose of Man
- To love, worship and serve Allah
- They will always choose the right way
- They shall be the noblest of Gods creatures. They must distinguish
the true from the false, to have a will that can freely choose
between them, and to have the power of speech to worship.
4. Christianity
Purpose of the Universe
- The universe was created through love by an intelligent power,
namely the God of the Bible.
- Provides all the physical needs, as well as companionship with each
other and fellowship with God of all living things.
Purpose of Man
- The purpose of humans is to love and serve God in order to help
bring about God's glorious plan for creation.
