P. EA VE Y 7-2 6 oreaine GUIDE To PREVENT ELECTRICAL SHOCK OR TIRE MAZARD, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS NECK ‘The neck is carved {rom select hard-rock maple utilizing four patented (US. Patent No, 4,237,544) bilamination Construction to prevent twisting and warping. Internally housed between the bilamination of fock maple is 2 fully adjustable stes! torsion rod with rolled threads. This steel torsion rod is, firmly attached at the body end of the neck and is adjustable at tha nut end with our special truss rod adjustment tool, The T-26 ttllizes a alant peg head design with all sixtuning machines ina straight line configuration BoDY The body is constructed from selected hardwood which is finished with our special polyester-urethane material in a ratural finish or one of our custom colors. The body style is @ ‘double cutaway with the necessary space above and bolow the eck to allow ease of playing above the 12th fret position, The ody shape has & special rib cage contour to allow ease of handling when instrument is to be used with a guitar strap. The finish we've chosen forthe T-26 is very highly marand weather, resistant and should offer years of service to the owner. (See Caring for your Guitar - Finish) PICKUPS The pickups are high output single coll designs with biade pole places ulllizing @ unique molded housing which allows Eritieal adjustment near the strings for maximum output. The pickups are fully potted to reduce unwanted microphonics and hoise end to allow pickups to remain intact for many years ‘without vibrating loose in transport or uso. Note: Because of this “potting” itis virtually impossible to disassemble the pickup without totaly destroying the unit. Any attempt to disassembia the pickup will void the warranty on the electronics of your instrument. ciRcuIT ‘The circult utilized in the T-26® is designed for maximum tonal flexiilty, featuring 3 single coil pickups connected toeS- way selector Switch. The pickups are conventional single coil designs and operate through a unique combining system ‘associated with the 5-position switch. There is only onevolume ‘control which operates the output level ofall three pickups and there are two tone controls, one for the neck pickup and one for the bridge pickup, (See Description of "How the Circuit Works’ ‘and “Pickup Solactor’), FRETS ‘The fret wire material for the T-26% is classed as medium heavy. The frets are nigh crowned, 18% nickel silver and provide ‘excellant intonation/compensation characteristics and superb tring bending, and playing. Eightoan porcent nickel provides a ‘degras more hardness than material used typically and should provide years of trouble-tree performance. HARDWARE ‘The bridge is a die-cast unit, which is triple platad chrome with fully adjustable individual’ saddles for intonation. The individual sacdles have been designed to allow a great deal of front to back movement for intonation adjustments when ‘dealing with different gauge strings for different typos of laying technique. (See Adjustments - Intonation) The top nut Is constructed from a bone-hard polycarbonate material. The premium tuning machines have a 14:1 ratio with chrome plated Contoured metal control knobs. The three-way toggle switch is military grade, INePRUMENT £9 RAIN OR MG|STURE BeFORE UsING Ts NSTAUMERT, READ BACK COVER FOR FURTHER WARNINGS. NECK TILT The neck tilt feature controls the all important playing angle of the neck while at the same timaaliows critical string fret learance to be adjusted accurately. When used in conjunction with the torsion rod adjustment the guitar should be easily set Lup to exact playing specifications for many different styles and personal tastes. (See Adjustments - Neck Tilt) SCALE This instrument features a “full” scale length which is 24- 3/4” and there are 23 frets. CASE “The case is lined, custom molded and contoured to fit the 7-268 guitar and includes a large storage area, secure jatches, ‘and lock system. This unit is molded with 2 double-wal Construction and has passed most requirements to beratedase “tite case type’. CONTROLS, 4. Volume. The volume control is the element for regulating the output of all three pickups and the level is increased by rotation clockwise while a counterclockwise motion will ‘decrease the output signal. It is also compensated so that there is 2 minimal loss of high ‘requencies with reduced volume, however, optimum performance is at a maximum setting. A special contoured cantrol knob is used for comfort and smoothness of this feature. 2. Tone, The neck and bridge pickups have their own tone Circuit which operates Independently of each other. The tone ‘controls function to Blend tonalitios of pickups except whon the ‘S-position switch is located at the center pickup position. (See “Pickup Selector”) Pokus ‘Seletar Swen Tone Conrots usp dace 3. Plekup Selector. The Pickup Selector Switch (a position Switch) functions much differently with the T-28° than with other guitars.employing S-way switches. Moving the switch forward activates the neck pickup and the extreme back position places the instrument in the bridge pickup mode, The ‘middle position activates only the center pickup. The two positions on either side of center with the 5-position switch Produce tonalities with much greater flexibility tan most typical guitars with S-way select switches. ‘The total operational characteristics ofthe selectabilty of the T-26® are as follows First Position, pickup only. (Single Coil) Second Position (One click back) Selects output of neck and center pickups. (Humbucking) Third Position (Center) Selects output of center pickup only. (Single Coll) Fourth Position (One click back of center.) Selects eutput of center and bridge pickups. (Humbuckina) (Toward the neck) Selects output of neck Fifth Position (Toward bridge) Solects output of bridge pickup only. (Single Coil HOW THE CIRCUIT WORKS ‘The capabilities of the 3-pickup, 5-position switch circuitry provide unmatched flexibility for systems of this type. The Second position, as described in the “Pickup Selector ‘description, is unique in the fact that “éual-coll’,"humbucking properties” are obtained by combining the neck and center Pickups in @ humbucking made. The fourth position also produces humbucking characteristics by combining the coils (Of the center and bridge pickups. However, with a litle careand by adhering closely tothe following instructions you may attempt these adjustments yourselt 4. Adjusting Torsion Rod: “To sat the straightness or relief of the neck, Peavey torsion rod wrench #7503101 must be used. This wrench i available from a Peavey accessory center at your authorized Peavey dealer CAUTION: PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUC TIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY ADJUSTMENTS, Setting the T-26% Neck: ‘A. Tune the instrument to standard (A-440) pitch, B Fret the sixth (big E) string at the first and last frets C._Check for clearance between string and the Bth fret D. This clearance should be no less than 1/64” and no more than 2/82" E. To increase clearance, loosen ‘the torsion rod nut counterclockwise. For lees clearance (straightening of the neck), tighten the torsion rod nut caurion IT 1S NOT USUALLY NECES- SARY TO ROTATE THE TORSION ROD NUT MORE THAN ONE FULL TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. ONE- QUARTER TO ONE-HALF ‘TURN IS NORMALLY SUFFI. CIENT TO MAKE MOST ADJUSTMENTS. EXCESSIVE ROTATION MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE NECK AND TORSION ROD. String Intonation: ‘Accurate. string intonation settings ensure that your instrument will play in tune at any point on the neck. Although perfect intonation is a physical Impossibility with a fretted Instrument, the correct settings with the bridge and saddle combination of the T-26® will maximize the accuracy of the individual notes up and down the neck. nore: ‘THE MOST ACCURATE INTONATION WILL ALWAYS BE AT THE {TZIH ET. NOTES WHICH ARE THE GREATEST DISTANCES FROM THE 12TH FRET (UP OR GOWN) WILL APPEAR THE MOBt OUT OF TUNE ON ANY FRETTEO INSTRUMENT. Intonation is set by comparing he piten oran oper suing to the pitch of the same string when itis played one octave higher at the 12th fret. The actual “vibrating length” of that string is \ariad intl the notas are both the right pitch. The "vibrating length” of the string is altered by adjusting the individual bridge saddles either forward or backward depending on whether the frettes note Is sharper or fatter in pitch than the open note. It the fretted note is sharper than the open note, the vibrating langth of the string must be increased - move the bridge saddle to the rear away from the pickup. Ifthe fretted note Ista, the vibrating length of the string must be shortened - move the bridge forward toward the pickup to shorten the length.
