Purpose: To raise awareness of the HIV statistics that plague Men who have Sex

with Men (MSM), and create preventative efforts that can be implemented to
reduce, if not eliminate this dreadful disease. Goals for this site are to also stop the
stigma and myths that surrounds the sexual behaviors of MSM.
In the United States, gay and bisexual men are severely affected by HIV more
than any other group1. HIV disproportionally affects blacks/ African Americans gay
and bisexual men more than any other racial MSM group 1. There has been a 20%
increased in the number of HIV infections among black/ African American gay and
bisexual men1.
Gay and bisexual, and other MSM accounts for approximately 2% of the United
States population, yet they are the most severely affected group plagued by HIV 1.
Gay and bisexual men ages 13 to 24 accounts for approximately 72% of all new HIV
infections1. At the end of 2011, approximately 500,022 (57%) of persons living with
an HIV diagnosis in the United States were gay and bisexual men, or gay and
bisexual men who were injected drug users 1.
Some quick HIV Facts/Stats:

In 2013, MSM accounted for 81% (30,689) of the 37,887 estimated HIV
diagnosis1
In 2013, MSM accounted for 55% of the estimated number of persons
diagnosed with AIDS among all adults and adolescents in the United Stats 1
Of the estimated 14,611 MSM diagnosed with AIDS, 40% were black, 32
white, and 23% Hispanic/ Latino1
By the end of 2011, approximately 311,087 MSM with AIDS had died in the US
since the beginning of the epidemic 1
