A SIMPLE HELLO

Another day at office, cribbing, I entered the lift,

Little did I realize, my mood was in for a shift.

She stood there in the corner, playing with her hair,

Next to her friend, about whom I didnt care.

She was a spectacle, like a star in the sky,

I had a crush. I knew I had to try.

Her eyes were deeper than the sea,

She had a fragrance that could enchant any bee.

Her hair was darker than Johnny Lever,

Gosh, she was hot, I almost had fever.

She wore jeans paired with a red top,

She had a figure, which could make any jaw drop.

Her skin carried an uncanny glow,

She was like a dream, she could make sand flow.

She had a dimple in each of her cheek,

She was indeed God's creativity at its peak.

I stared at her for a minute flat,

But maybe she didnt believe in tit for tat.

She ignored me like a customer care call,

I felt like Humpty Dumpty. I had a great fall.

I wished that time could stand still,

And we both are transported to the top of some hill.

To sing and dance, to strike a movie pose,

And on top of a glacier, give her a red rose.

To be directly between the ice and sun,

To feel her warmth, to feel we are one.

But in between my dream, there was a ting,

The death knell, of my love, it made a ring.

She made a move, her floor had come,

All I wanted to say was 'RUK JAO SANAM'.

This was it. This was the time. I realized.

She needed some space, I moved aside.

I was in love. I finally made that try,

But even with all my guts, all I could utter was 'HI'.

With a frown, she looked at me, from the side of her eye,
My eyes didnt, but my heart did cry.

Her voice was as melodious as a cello,

But all she said was a simple hello.

She left leaving only her scent behind,

Thank god!! At least she was that kind.

My heart sank, I moved towards my office seat,

What a shock it was, after a visual treat.

As I sat on my chair, I tried to recall,

A simple hello and that was all!!!!
