Our reporter Tom Tenkins is at this year’s music festival. Milwaukee has the number one music festival in the world. The festival in the summer. It starts at the end of June and it usually finishes ot the beginning of July. There are 12 music stages at the festival and over 700 bands perform there every year. Famous bands and singers play at the festival, for example Alicia Keys, the Foo Fightors ond Destiny's Child. ‘You can listen to all types of music — reggae. jazz. heavy metal and blues too, There are lots of festivals all year in Milwaukee ~ there's a Polish week, 3 German festival, a Mexican fiesta — but the Summerfest is special and very different. The first Summerfest was in 1968 ond there were 35 music events that year. Last year's festival had aver a million visitors from 105 different countries! This year I'm staying in the centre of town for the festival ond rm learning a lot about Milwaukee. 38% of the city's population is German, 50 the festival is @ great place to try great German food. My favourite place to eat at the festival is the Schwabenhot Restaurant - the food is fantastic! Tommy Weissgerber is o really interesting person at the festival.
