How can I ever forgive myself?

She had warned me numerous times but the

arrogant mind of mine didn't listen
But it should be me who should suffer for my haughtiness and not my soul mate
who did her level best to refrain from such gullible acts
Bravado and ego were born with me I guess. They were always there in my
blood. The extra pompous nature always boosted itself even with some formal
comments of appreciation given by others. And never did I miss an opportunity
to show off a new trick wherever I found a gathering.
