Find the tension in the string in the displaced position. State and explain the theorems of PAPPUS and GULDINUS. Determine the moment of inertia of a triangle with respect to its base from first principles. ‘A weight ‘W” of 1000N is to be raised by a 2 system of pulleys as shown below. Using the principle of virtual work find the value of the force P which can hold the system in equilibrium. \ ‘A car is moving in a straight line for a short time and its velocity is defined by v = 0.3(9/7 +2) m/s. Determine its acceleration when time ‘1’ is 3 seconds, if it has no initial displacement. Define coefficient of restitution. Describe an expression for the same from first principles. ‘A mortar having muzzle velocity of 215.6 m/s fires for maximum range across a level plain. Neglecting air resistance, calculate the time of flight of the shell. ‘The armature of an electric motor has angular speed of 1800 rpm at the instant which the power is cut off. If it comes to rest in 6 seconds, calculate the angular deceleration assuming it to be constant. PART-B 8 (4x 15 = 60) Two rollers of weights SON and 100N are connected by a flexible string as shown below. The rollers rest on two mutually perpendicular planes. Find the tension in the string and the angle 0 that it makes with the horizontal, when the system is in equilibrium. Take a =30°.
