1) The part that stood out to me on this site was the Triangle Slave Trade document.

This part
stood out to me because the trading between Europe, Africa, and America was massive. Due to
the slave trading between these continents, many of the key ports in the Atlantic trading routs
became big. I always thought that ports grew only to accommodate the navy, but from this
document I learned that ports grow depending on the amount of trading. I also learned that slaves
were very profitable in Atlantic trade, which enriched ports in the Atlantic trade.
2) The part that stood out to me on this site was the New York's Slave Laws stories. The part in
the story that stood out to me is when it mentioned about the law of 1712 that forbid slaves freed
after that law to own any property or pass on anything they own. This stood out to me because
this law shows that blacks aren't human and that they do not qualify to own anything even if they
have the money. It is surprising to me that blacks are oppressed to this level in society at this
time.
3) The part that stood out to me on this site was the George Washington's slave story. This stood
out to me because it shows that slaves took advantage of the revolutionary war to escape or free
themselves from slavery. In addition, the story also shows how desperate slaves are to obtain
freedom because they don't care what side they fought for in the war as long as they get their
freedom.
4) The part that stood out to me on this site was the Jupiter Advice To The Young story. This
stood out to me because Jupiter was a slave and he didn't desire freedom as much as seeking
moral well being. I find this surprising because I always thought that slaves only had the desire
to seek freedom more than anything else. In addition, he also revealed that not all slaves seek to
use violence upon their master or whites.
5) The part that stood out to me on this site was the Losing Job story. This stood out to me
because it shows that blacks were being discriminated when they are a free man. They could not
get a well paying job competing against white immigrants. What is surprising to me is that blacks
faced continued obstacles in their life after being freed before obtaining equality.
