Category 1: The Great Nation of Futurity

In this document, the part that stood out to me is when it mentioned that America is the great just
nation that promotes equality and freedom compare to other nations. This part stood out to me
because America is no way different then other nations. Slavery is still found in many American
households, which is no different than a nation that has elites and peasants. I chose this document
because I always wanted to read about the Manifest Destiny when I learned about it in high
school. After reading this document, I will remember that the other intention of using Manifest
Destiny was to justify conquest. I will remember this because slavery still exists in America at
this time and this contradicts the reason of "spreading liberty and equality" throughout the land.
Category 2: Declaration of Sentiments
In this document, the part that stood out to me is when it mentioned about the men having all the
power to decide who would take care of the kids when divorce. This part stood out to me because
this literally makes the female a property and not a human. I chose this document because I
always wondered what the point of view females had about their life at that time. After reading
this document, I will remember that females had a hard life back then. I will remember this
because I thought that females didn't have such a oppressed life to this extent.
