Exercise 1 (Explicit Method):

A linear flow system with length of 1000 unit-length and initial pressure of 2000 unit-pressure.
The pressure at left-hand side of the system increased to 3000 unit-pressure, and the pressure at
right-hand side of the system is maintained at the initial value (2000 unit-pressure). The flow
system is governed by the following partial differential equation (PDE):

1- Apply the explicit finite difference approximation to this PDE.


2- Find the pressure distribution in the system at t = 5000 unit-time, using t = 500 unit-time,
and x = 200 unit-length.
3- Use Excel spreadsheet to find the pressure distribution till the system reaches the steady
state conditions.
