Sub : Bending/fracture of wheel discs of electric locos.

The problem of bending/fracture of wheel discs has been continuing on electric
locos with majority of the cases being noticed on WAP4 locos based at ELS/SRC/SE Rly.
and ELS/BRC/W Rly.
ROSO was accordingly advised to investigate the cause and submit
recommendations. Based on the recommendations of RDSO, Board (ML.MM) have
decided the following:
() Discontinue use of composite brake blocks on WAP-4 locomotives and
Tevert back to cast iron brake blocks - Zonal Railways to implement,
“(i +” Reeduetion in brake cylinder pressure on WAP-# locos from 2.5 Kg/cm? to
2.0 Kg/em? for auto braking - RDSO to examine and issue necessary
directives.
(ii) Expedite provision of roof mounted DBRs on all WAP-4 locos in a time
fepte of 18 morths Zonal Railways to implement - | CLW to prarate
‘Duke and supply to Zonal Railways as per the directives issued by Board
vide letter no. 2006/Elect(TRS)/#41/6 dated 07.06.06.
Zonal Railways, CLW and ROSO are advised to take urgent action as per the
above and report compliance. ~~,
