Digital Literacy

Article 1:
The first article that I found about Digital literacy comes from Cornell University. This
article states that digital literacy, is the ability to find, evaluate, utilize, share and create content
using information technologies and the Internet. The article also mentions the various tasks
students must perform in order to maintain updated in their classes. These task include writing
papers, creating multimedia presentations, also posting information online. Many of these
important tasks are similar to task students at CCBC also must perform for their classes. The
article emphasizes the importance of staying update on technology since it is rapidly changing.
The article mentions that technology is changing must faster than society. With technology
growing concepts like copyright, academic integrity, and privacy are now difficult to define.
Cornell University also emphasizes the importance of being literate when it comes to using
digital information to avoid plagiarism.
The reason I selected this article was Cornell University is a very pristine institution and
know that this site provides accountable information that can be used for this assignment. Also
since this article was written from a college this information is easily relatable to me since I am a
college student.

Article 2: Information Literacy

This article is from Plattsburgh University. The article states that being literate in
information recognition will allow students to effectively utilize the newly found material they
researched. Plattsburgh University states that a graduate from this school will be information
literate once graduated. This information also relates back to CCBC students. From taking
classes like CSIT and other classes students will have the skills to obtain information that can be
deemed as reliable. Students who are information literate can write papers that now have a
stronger credibility when using navigational skills to sort through information.
The reason I choose this article is similar to the reason I chose the last article. In my
previous studies here at CCBC many of my professors required creditable sources to obtain
information. Gathering information for a university is one of the most creditable sources on can
find.
