To safely and efficiently operate, repair and maintain all the vessels electrical,

control, communication and navigational equipment.


Key accountabilities
1) To safely and efficiently operate, maintain and retrofit the ship's electrical and
electronic and control systems and equipment.

2) To assist in the preparation of spare gear and equipment requirements in a cost


effective manner.

3) To complete routine duties required in normal vessel operation and by Planned


Maintenance Systems.

4) To act as a member of the Shipboard Emergency Response and Fire Fighting Team
in accordance with the muster lists and shipboard contingency plans.

5) To maintain a satisfactory set of working drawings and service documents for all
appropriate equipment.

6) To carry out ISPS duties in accordance with the vessel Ship Security plan

7) Attend daily or weekly Shipboard Management Meeting to discuss safety,


operational and maintenance issues and to promote an informed and co-operative
approach to achieving objectives. To become familiar and comply with the relevant
contents of the Quality Management System Manual.

8) Manage the day-to-day operations of the second and junior ESE and ESE cadets
and providing support, guidance and assessment as required.

9) Specific Duties: To maintain and test:


a) Fire and Gas Detection Equipment

b) Electrical Emergency Trips and Safety systems


c) Batteries and Chargers
d) Electronic Navigational Aids
e) Communications Equipment
f) Electrical Equipment in Hazardous areas
g) Power Generation and Distribution systems
