This important fst stage has been made possible through a joint investment of the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, and the Cty ‘of Ottawa, Itis our hope all three partners will gree to continue this great partnership withthe ‘Stage 2 LRT projec. In summary, Stage 2 of LRT would add 30 Kilometres of rail and 19 new stations to Ottawa's O- ‘Train network, It would connect our major post-secondary, employment and retail hubs, while bringing 70% of Ottawa residents within 6 klometres of ral. The project would reduce commute times, cut emissions, and grow our economy by increasing transit ridership by 10% and adding 15 rlion passenger tips annually. Through recent Environmental Assessment work, the total project cost remains estimated at $3 billon, escalated to time of spend. | nave attached the Stage 2 LRT project business case document, which cleary lays out the value and opportunites presented by the project. ‘The City of Ottawa has been delighted o see thatthe federal and provincial governments have established significant infrastructure funds in their recent budgets. We have also watched with {reat interest as both levels of government have committed to funding transit projects in other ‘municipalities lke Toronto. With this in mind, itis our hope that the Province of Ontario wil ‘maximize its contribution to the Stage 2 LRT project so that the City of Ottawa can proceed confidently towards construction in 2018 2 ras oxewantIn our background document, you will notice two additional ine extensions that are currently Outside ofthe Cty of Ottawa's budget envelope forthe project: an east extension to Trim Road ($185 milion) and one to the Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier Intemational Aiport ($160 milion.
