Senate Steering Committee refers Meredith matter to Senate Ethics Office
OTTAWA, July 16, 2015 Senate Speaker Leo Housakos, Chair of the Steering Committee of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration confirms that a report on the Workplace Assessment of Independent Senator Don Merediths office, initiated by former Speaker Pierre-Claude Nolin, was received by the committee Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Following careful review and discussion of the information contained in the report, the Steering Committee concluded it was imperative that the matter be referred to the Senate Ethics Officer. Senator Meredith has been informed of this decision and will receive a copy of the report. The Senate is committed to ensuring all parties involved in this matter are afforded the due diligence to which they are entitled and that all actions and measures taken will be appropriate. At the request for privacy and anonymity by several of the employees who took part in the Workplace Assessment, we will provide no further detail or comment.
