This innovative power assist feature eliminates most of the effort required to move your Gsix back and forth, A\CAUTION: TURNING TECHDRIVE ON (DRIVE) To engage TechDrive and put the Gsix in the Power Assist mode, push down the yellow “D” side (marked "D” for Drive) Of the TechDrive N/D Pedal (1) located just below the Power Switch. ‘You may use your Gsix without ‘TechDrive Power Assist if desired. ‘Simply put TechDrive in Neutral (See next paragraph). ‘To avoid possible damage to soft tles or marking of waxed and finished non-carpeted floors, disengage the TechDrive. ae YURNING TECHDRIVE OFF (NEUTRAL) ‘To move your Gsix® with the motor OFF or to vacuum without Power Assist, TechDrive must be pat in Neutral To place TechDrive in Neutral, push down the light gray “N" side (marked “N" for Neutral ofthe TechDrive Power Assist NID Pedal (). INSTALLING/CHANGING DISPOSABLE FILTER BAGS A Disposable Filter Bag must be installed before you begin vacuuming. ‘To install a new Disposable Filter | eres. (and pul out the Disposable Filter Bag along withthe Top Adaptor (5). > Getting Started TechDrive® Power Assist/Installing/Changing Disposable Filter Bags ‘When necessary, remove the used Disposable Filter Bag, NOTE: Always replace the Disposable Filter Bag when ditt reaches the “FULL” line on the bag. Failure to do 80 will affect performance. From the rear of the Disposable Bag, ‘grasp the cardboard faceplate, Holding the ‘Top Adaptor steady, rotate the cardboard faceplate to the left (counter-clockwise. ‘When the lock tabs on the Top Adaptor align with the slots in the cardboard face- plate, gently pull the bag off. > Bag, grasp the cardboard faceplate from the rear of the Disposable Filter bag. Align the slots in the card board faceplate on the Disposable Filter Bag with the lock tabs on the Top Adaptor. Then push the Top Adaptor into the bag opening, Holding the Top Adaptor steady, rotate the cardboard faceplate to the right (clockwise) to secure the Disposable Filter Bag. NOTE: To avoid air leaks, make sure the cardboard faceplate is securely posi- tioned up against the fat portion of the ‘Top Adaptor. > 3 To install a new Disposable Filter Before changing the Disposable Filter Bag, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and be sure Getting Started Bag Support Strap/Mini Em-Tor® and Belt Lifter BAG SUPPORT STRAP Support Strap (is connected to the Top Adaptor). The Bag Support tap provides the sipport required for proper operation oF the Disposable Filter Bag. 4 Check to make sure the Bag I itis not connected, thread the strap through the small hole of the Top ‘Adaptor. Then place the hole inthe strap ‘over the stud on the Top Adaptor. Finally, insert the adaptor and new filter ‘ag into the Outer Permanent Bag (1) ‘and close the zipper completely for max- imum peeformance. NOTE: In order for the Filtration System to perform effectively, use only Kirby* ‘Micron Magic* HEPA Filtration Bags. If the outside bag is om or damaged, x replace immediately. EMPTYING ‘THE MINI EM-TOR ‘The Mini Em-Tor © is designed to col lect large, heavy particles which can be emptied by removing the Mini Em-Tor. ‘To remove, grasp the Mini Em-Tor inthe handiold provided and rotate itaway from the body ofthe six as far as it will go then it i of The top of the bag is released from the handle by pressing the Bag Release Button (19. After removing the Mini Em-Tor and the entire Bag Assembly, position the front opening of the Mini Em-Tor over a newspaper and shake it 10 remove the particles. A caution! ‘To replace the Mini Em-Tor, attach the entre Bag Assembly by inserting the Bag Late Tab Dat the top ofthe bag into the slot under the Bag Release Button 9. Finally, line up the raised indicator arow ofthe Mini Em-Tor with the indicator arrow on the Air Exhust Port (9), Rovate the Mini Ei-Tortovards the Gsix and Jockin pace. (NOTE: The Mini Em-Tor must be securely locked in place or the Gsix wll not operate. St USING THE BELT LIFTER ‘The Belt Lifter @ on your Gs is used {or two purposes 1) To engage or disengage the Brush Rol ‘When te Brash Rolls disengaged, the Gsix canbe used asa straight suction ccleaner (page 13), and; 2) Tosllow removal ofthe Power Nozle when converting your Gix for use wit yriousstachments and optional ‘To avoid damaging the belt, tum the Gsix OFF before using the Belt Lifter. > ‘Do not pick up heavy objects, such as coins, serews, rocks or similar objects. Then lower the Headlight Hood, ‘The Brush Roll will now rotate when the Power Switch is turned ON. NOTE: The belt should not be stretched when stored for an extended period. Attach the Hard Floor Pad onto the nozzle opening using the spring clips onthe plat. Then lower the Power Nozale by pressing the Toe-Touch Control Upper Pedal (8) one notch at time until the bristles touch the floor. NOTE: The Hard Foot Pad should only be used when the Gsix isin the Straight, Suction Cleaner mode. When using the Hard Floor Pad lower the nozzle until the bristles touch the bare floor. PORTABLE CLEANER SET-UP Besides being a remarkable Upright Cleaner, the Gsix can easily be converted into a portable cleaner for -matiresses and carpeted stairs, ‘To convert your Gsix to Portable Cleaner, make sure the Gsix is tumed OFF, unplugged, and the ‘TochDrive® is disengaged. ‘Then release the Outer Permanent Bag ‘Top from the Bag Support (i) by press- 8 the Bag Release Button () and slid- ing the bag top off. > Remove the cord from the handle With the Upright Handle (in the verical postion, push the Handle Release Button (1d), located atthe base of the handle, and pull the handle straight up and out ofthe slot (Bug not shown for clarity). > Insert the Portable Handle (into the slot where the Upright Handle vas connected, Pus te Portable Handle ino the slot unt t snaps into place, > : ,] Before installing the Har! Roll the cleaner back and forth so that the Brush Roll agitate the carpeting and loosens te dirt MATTRESS CLEANING Cleaning mattress surfaces is done the ‘same as carpeted slairs. To begin, set the Gsix Hand Portable on the mattress. ‘With the Brush Roll engaged, turn the Gsix ON and lower the power nozzle 10 its lowest setting. Engage TechDri nd begin to vacuum. DELICATE MATTRESS CLEANING Cleaning soft or delicate mattress sut= faces is done the same as regular matress surfaces, except that you may want to disengage the Brush Roll. (If your mat- tress has tufted buttons on the surface, the Brush Roll could pull them loose.) For straight suction cleaning, rise the Headlight Hood 2) and flip ut the L- shaped handle on the Belt Lifter i). Hook the lugs over the ends ofthe Ataching Bar GF, thn push the opening ofthe hose up against the Gsix. > Lock the Attachment Hose Connector in place by turing the Accessory Lock @2 al he way to the right (clockwise) (The Accessory Lock will elamp the Attachment Hose to the Gsix) With the Attachment Hosein place, the Gai will automaticaly adjust to high speed for hose operation NOTE: If the Gsix will not run when the Power Switch is ON, see page 51, col umn 2, item 4, [es Tn normal operation, friction between the belt and the metal motor shaft may cause the metal motor shaft to become hot tothe touch, Canister Cleaner & Attachments Installing/Using the Attachments INSTALLING ATTACHMENTS ON THE ATTACHMENT HOSE ‘To attach tools tothe hose, push lightly while twisting the smaller end of the hhose into the tool. ATTACHING THE SUCTION RELIEF UPHOLSTERY PANEL, ‘To attach the suction relief faceplate for drapes and delicate upholstery, insert the lip on the front edge of the upholstery tool under the two tabs on the front of the suction relief faceplate as shown. Push down the rear of the upholstery tool as shown to snap the suction relief faceplate into place. ‘To remove the suction relief faceplate, reverse the above procedure. However, the ends of the Brush Roll are adjustable, s0 you can extend the bris- tles, allowing ihe brush to work like new ‘The Brush Roll on a new Gsix* has three settings: one notch, two notches and three notches. The greater the number of notches, the farther the bristles are extended. Use the one notch setting for delicate carpeting such as berber. If using the Suetion Control Grip, make sure to completely close the Suction Control Valve to ‘maintain maximom airflow. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY BAG SMELLS? Change it. Replace the bag when the dirt reaches the fill line. Do not ‘overfill, Once the bag is changed, roll your Gsix® to an open area, put iin Neutral and tum it ON.
