Existing ships refer to ships, the building contract of which is placed before 01 September 2016. orin the absence ofa bulding contrac, the keel of which is laid or which is ata similar stage fof construction before 01 September 2015, Now ships are those which are not existing ships 3 IMO Conventions require marine equipment, tings, systems, ote. on ships to be tested and approved by the Adminisvaton to ensure they comply with the requirements of applicable provisions of the Conventions, Codes, specications, performance standards and guidelines developed by the IMO.
