For an 11 year old boy who lives in the middle of
town, you might think that having a love for John
Deere is a little odd. At just 9 months old, Cooper
Meshew received his first John Deere replica tractor
from his grandfather and the rest is history. Cooper
might look and act like a normal adolescent boy, but
ina few years, he will have to rely upon a wheelchair
as his only mode of personal mobility.
When Cooper was born, the doctors diagnosed him
with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a medical condition that.
is characterized by the progressive loss of muscle
tissue. Knowing what his outcome will be one day, 99xe" and his new autographed lohn Deere
Cooper and his parents decided to take full
advantage of him being able to walk this summer and embarked on a three week journey out
West. Before making it back to their home in Ohio, Cooper's parents arranged to make a
special stop at John Deere's Tractor Cab Assembly Operations to go ona VIP tour.

Along with his grandfather's influence, Cooper also says that a family friend helped make an
impact on his love for John Deere. "He lives on a farm and lets me ride in his tractors," said
Cooper. He quickly added, "and they are all green!" Cooper's father chimed in to say, "Well
most of them are." To which Cooper candidly snapped back, "The ones that work!"
Today, Cooper has over 1,000 John Deere replicas. "They are all different sizes and no two are
the same," explained Cooper, as he described his floor to ceiling shrine of the green tractors. "|
enjoy farming simulation and | even got my friends to like it too."
Even though the disease has already started to affect Cooper's muscles, making it hard for him
to even smile, Cooper's excitement for John Deere and being at the factory put a smile on
everyone's face. His love and passion for the green and yellow tractor is unmatched and as he
huddled around his new autographed 8370R replica and other John Deere treasures, you could
tell that this stop in Waterloo was one of the best parts of his trip.
Before leaving, Cooper was asked what his overall favorite part of his tour was, and in normal
11 year old fashion he replied, “Everything!”
