Not all cement particles are hydrated after being mixed

CNC increases hydration thus increases the rate of curing and potentially
altering the structure of cement and strengthens
The reaction for the cement hardening is exothermic, an amount of heat is
released thus this indicates an increase in the hydration of the concrete
CNC shows to form water inlets to better penetrate the concrete

0.83 MT of CO2 is emitted per metric ton cement produced globally, this value
will be decreased by 500 million MT CO2 per year when nanocellulose is
introduced to the cement industry assuming that 3.3 billion MT CO 2 is
released.

Suspension is prepared by mixing 5% dry pulp, 77.2% ordinary Portland

cement, 17.8% ground carbonate.
First, pulp is dispersed in distilled water by mechanical stirring 3000 rpm for 5
minutes to disintegrate pulp before cement addition.
The resulting mixture contains 20% solids is stirred in 1000 rpm for 4
minutes.
The slurry is placed in a casting box under vacuum at 80kPa g to evacuate
water until solid surface is obtained.

CNC is added to well fluids to increase the strength of cement or increase

viscosity of water-based well fluids such as fracturing and gravel packing
fluids.
