ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I am grateful to Prof. (Dr.) V. N. Shet, Principal, Goa College of Engineering, for his constant
support and encouragement.
I also wish to thank Prof (Dr.) J. A. Laxminarayana, Head of Department, Computer
Engineering, for constantly motivating me in my journey through the mid-term project study.
I am deeply indebted to my guide, Prof. Nagraj Vernekar, Associate Professor, Computer
Engineering, for allowing me to carry out the project study under his supervision. He has given
me the confidence to take up this project, exhorted me to pursue this challenge and is pillar of
support during the time of difficulty. Without his helpful suggestions this thesis could not be
done.
I would also like to thank my parents, family members, well-wishers, volunteers along with the
almighty without whom the complete project study would not have taken shape.

Abstract
Quality of Service (QoS) routing in an Ad Hoc network is difficult because the network topology
may change and the available state information for routing is inherently imprecise. In this
project, we develop QoS version of the OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) protocol,
which is a proactive Ad Hoc routing protocol. We introduce heuristics that allow OLSR to
find the maximum bandwidth path, show through simulations and proof that these heuristics do
improve OLSR in the Bandwidth QoS aspect; we also analyze the performance of the
QoS routing protocol in NS2, observe the achievements obtained, and the cost paid. Our
simulation results show that the QoS version of the OLSR routing protocol do improve
the available bandwidth of the routes computed.
