Foster care- provides children or adults with supervision a place to live outside their
usual home setting

people placed in foster care because they must leave their homes and cant
live alone
kids could live with 6-12 other kids in a family home
children may be in foster care if a parent or another person in their home
abuses them

children whose parents are deceased, neglect, or cannot care for them are
placed in foster care
most foster children do not spend entire childhoods in foster care
o many return to parents, move in with relatives, or are adopted
most foster care programs prepare foster children for a permanent home, with
their families, adoptive families, or with a long term foster family
