A MEMORABLE INCIDENT

I woke up covered in sweat. My heart was beating very fast putting me in a state of frenzy.
Suddenly I remembered that my family were involved with an accident on our way home
from my village and everything came back to me.
My memory skipped back to what happened seven hours ago. My family and I were
preparing to return home after a two-week holiday at my home town. My father decided to
return home early because he didnt want to be stuck in a traffic jam. We departed from my
village at seven in the morning because my father didnt want to arrive home at night.
After saying goodbye to my grandfather and grandmother, we got ready to return home.
After a few hours in the car, we fell asleep except for my father because my father had to
drive. When I opened my eyes, I felt the car had stopped. My father had to drive. When I
opened my eyes, I felt the car had stopped. My father told us that we had to stop to have
lunch because the time then was one oclock, time for lunch. We all ate fried rice at a stall
nearby.
After having lunch, we continued our way home. My stomach was very full after having
lunch a few minutes before. I fell asleep again. When I opened my eyes, all my family
members were also asleep. I decided that I didnt want to sleep at that time. The time was
five oclock, but we hadnt arrived home yet.
I looked out of the window. I could only see vehicles and trees. All of a sudden I felt worried.
My fathers car was not stable. It seemed to be wobbling. I wanted to tell my father, but I
saw my father was driving with closed eyes. I shouted to my father and fortunately my
father woke up, not just my father but my family members too.
I told them what happened just a few minutes before. My family were shocked. We decided
to stay awake but it was easier said than done. I fell asleep again and I failed to wake my
father up the second time. Our car rolled over three times before it finally came to a stop.
The bodies of my family members were scattered all over the place.
The ambulance came. They took my family including me to the hospital. Fortunately, all my
family members were safe. I was very happy. My father felt very regretful because his
mistake had caused us to be involved in an accident, but I didnt care. The most important
thing was all my family members were safe.

THAT FUNNY CRAZY NIGHT

BY ATHIRA BINTI ZAINAL ABIDIN
I opened my eyes. Something woke me up. Everything was dark. My heart was
beating at turbo speed. Suddenly, I heard some strange noises coming from downstairs. I
tried to be brave. I took my baseball bat and went downstairs slowly. I crept step by step. I
peered downstairs. There was no lights switched on. I tiptoed down the stairs. My hand
was starting to shake. I took a deep breath and went downstairs slowly. Then I saw a weird
shadow. I tried to look at what it was. I saw two pointed ears and it was furry. I tried to go
nearer. Its eyes were shining in the dark. I switched on the lights and then meow. Argh....
It was just Kitty. It was just my cat who wanted to eat.
After giving my cat some food, I wanted to go back to sleep. When I was on my way up the
stairs I felt like someone was following me from behind. I was so scared to look at what was
behind me. I just continued walking. I walked quickly. Then I felt like someone was watching
me. I just stood still. I couldnt do anything because I was so scared. I felt like someone
was touching my shoulder. I wanted to shout, but I couldnt. I tried to look at the hand. It
felt so cold. I was frozen. The hand was very heavy, and it pulled my shoulder to the back.
Then I heard someone say, Why arent you in bed? with a very spooky voice. I tried to
answer but I couldnt. Slowly, I closed my eyes, turned around quickly and then I opened my
eyes. After I opened my eyes, I laughed. Dad you scared me, I said. My dad laughed and
asked, Why arent you in bed at this hour? Then I answered, It was Kitty. She was hungry.
So I gave her food. Ooh! I see, said dad. Night, daddy, I said.
I went straight to my room and tried to sleep. Then I heard something knocking on the
glass window of my room. I looked outside. There was a person with a very thin hand and
very sharp nails knocking on my window. I felt so scared and jumped off the bed and ran to
my parents room. My dad was very shocked when I pushed the door hard. Why? What
happened?, asked my dad. I saw something scary outside, I said. Where? asked dad
again. In my room, I answered. My dad went to my room and switched on the lights. Then
my dad laughed. Ooh, my little girl. It was just a tree, dear, said dad. Oh! I said with a
red face. Then my dad switched off the lights and went back to his room.
I tried to continue sleeping. About half an hour later, I didnt know why but I felt like my bed
was shaking, and I could feel something kicking the bottom of my bed. I was shocked and
couldnt do anything. When I turned to my right, I saw someone sleeping beside me. I
wanted to shout, but I couldnt find my voice. I felt like something was stuck in my throat.
Then the thing beside me hugged me. It squeezed me tightly making it hard for me to
breathe. I tried to look at the one hugging me. Then, I just took a deep breath and smiled.
It was just my younger brother. I pulled my body away from hi m and looked at what was
under my bed. It was just my brothers twin. He was under my bed trying to scare me. I
jumped of f the bed, grabbed hold of his feet, and dragged him out from under the bed. He
was giggling and so was his twin. I chased them back to their bedroom and they locked
their door laughing. I was angry with them, but later I smiled. I had to agree. It was pretty
funny.

SOMEONE TO REMEMEBER
(BY BEAUTIFUL STRANGER - 5 SC 1 2013)
It had been raining all day and I stayed at home alone. I felt so sad and my tears were
flowing down my cheeks just like the rain droplets that were falling off from my windows.
This was because my friend went to Australia without giving me a chance to say farewell to
him.
My friends name was Muhammad Nabil. He was the best buddy I have ever had. He always
stayed by my side irrespective of whether I was happy or sad. He was always the shoulder
for me to cry on. He cared for me more than he cared for himself. It was hard to find a
friend like him.
One day, I had an argument with him. My other friends asked me to go shopping. I was a
very nave person as I just agreed with them. My best friend told me not to go with them
because he knew that they were not good persons. They would take me to a club after
shopping, and our religion is against it. I did not trust him and asked him not to bother
himself with my business. I also told him that I was big enough to take care of myself.
That evening, I prepared myself to hang out. Nabil messaged to me so many times and
called me, but I just ignored him. I still felt mad towards him. He tried to call my mother to
talk to me, but I just let him be. My mother asked me what was happening, and I only said
that I had already broken off my relationship with Nabil. My mother felt surprised as she was
closed to him and was treating him like her own son.
My friends arrived at my home to fetch me. Then, we went to the Gigantic Mall to watch a
movie entitled Breaking Dawn. My friends who brought his or her partners were holding
their hands together. Some of them were kissing in front of the people without feeling any
shame. I felt shocked and did not believe that they were so brave to do that. When the
movie ended, we went to a club, and it was the same as the one Nabil mentioned. I told
them that I did not want to go there, but they forced me to do so. When we came out of the
car, I ran as fast as lightning to save my life. I did not want to do the things that my religion
forbids.
I ran without looking back. When I arrived home, I felt thankful as God saved me from them.
Then, my mother opened the door upon hearing my knocking. I hugged my mother and told
her that my friends were chasing after me. My mother told me to sit down and to take a
deep breath. After that, my mother asked me why I was running away from my friends. I
told her everything that happened and she felt relieved because I was safe.
My mother related to me that Nabil came to our house to see me. But I was not around. He
told my mother that he was going to Australia as his parents had asked him to come back
home. I asked my mother when he would be flying home. My mother answered, At eleven
oclock.

I turned on my mobile phone and read the messages sent by him. Then, I realized that he
wanted to tell me that he would be going there that day. I drove my car and went to the
airport and parked my car. I ran into the airport building to search for him, but I could not
find him.
I felt very sad and called out his name as loud as I could. But God knew better about what
was good for me. I did not manage to locate him. I returned home with a broken heart.
I stayed alone in my bedroom and I felt very regretful. I prayed to God to let me see him
again. Then, the rain started to fall until the next day, but I still did not stop crying. That
night, I heard someone playing a guitar outside my house. I went to the window and saw
that Nabil was standing outside my house. At first, I did not believe that it was Nabil until I
blinked my eyes for a few times.
I ran to my front door and opened it. I scolded him for not telling me that he was going to
Australia. He just answered my question with a simple sentence, I am sorry. I told him
that I was the one who should apologize. I felt really happy and I swore to myself that I
would not treat him badly anymore.

JOURNAL OF THE 9TH THAILAND-MALAYSIA YOUTH CAMP 2013

13TH JUNE 2013
Arrived at Summit Hotel, Penang in the evening. Checked in and was placed in the same
room with a girl from Perlis, Alis, and a girl from Kedah, Nuwairah. I felt familiar with Alis
when I first met her in the room. We started our conversation and realized that we had met
each other two years ago. After lunch, we gathered in a hall and started our activities with
Cikgu Azizan. We were required to introduce ourselves to teachers and to other participants.
It was a must to be confident since we were the representatives from Malaysia! Besides,
Cikgu Azizan also taught us about Malaysias tradition and cultlure. Everything went well on
the first day!
14TH JUNE 2013
Started our first session with Cikgu Azizan. During the ice breaking session, we managed to
know more about each other and became closer after that. Next session was dance lesson
with Cikgu Zainal. It was my favourite session! I got paired with Adam, a boy from Melaka
too. After tea break, we went on our next session with Cikgu Azizan once again. This time
he taught us about communication skills and tested our concentration level through some
games. The most amusing part was whoever lost in the games will be penalized by applying
some cooling powder(bedak sejuk) on their faces. We were also honoured when the Director
of Co-curricular Unit came to pay us a visit and gave us some useful advice. At night, we
were given a Thai language lesson by an officer from the department of education before
going to Thailand the next day.
15TH JUNE 2013
We did our last dance practice right after breakfast. But this time we danced with our
costumes on for the rehearsal before departing to Bangkok. Around 1 pm we headed to
Butterworth train station. We enjoyed our journey even though it was just a stones throw
away from Summit Hotel. After we boarded the train, everyone was on cloud nine. I found
that it was fun being with them despite it being such a long journey. The bonds between 20
participants and teachers were getting closer and we felt joy during the journey.
16TH JUNE 2013

Arrived at Hualampong Station, Bangkok around 2.20 pm. Went for lunch at New World City
Hotel just after we arrived in Bangkok. After lunch, we visited the well-known Grand Palace
which was a complex of buildings at the heart of Bangkok. Everyone was amazed by the
stunning workmanship. Then, we moved on to our destination, Kanchanaburi Province which
was a 2 hours drive away from Bangkok. At Kanokan Place , the venue for our programme,
we let down our hair! Since we had a hard time during the journey, the organizer cancelled
all the night activities and allowed us to take a rest.
17TH JUNE 2013
After breakfast, both delegations from Thailand and Malaysia were taken to Kanchananukroh
School for the opening ceremony. We were led by students in traditional costumes
performing traditional dances. We were pleased to be in the 3D hi-tech classroom for the
opening ceremony. Somehow I felt we were in a luxury airplane since the seats were comfy
and they served drinks too! The 9th Thailand-Malaysia Youth Camp 2013 was officiated by a
representative from the Ministry of Education of Thailand. Then, we went back to the hotel
for our first activity in Thailand. Ice breaking session allowed us to break the thin lining of
ice between Malaysian students and Thai students. We were divided into 5 groups and each
group was given a task to prepare a presentation regarding visions of ASEAN. Right after
lunch, we got into our groups and started the stations activities. There were 5 stations, and
we rotated between groups after every 10 minutes. At night, we gathered in the hall after
dinner for ASEAN quiz. Those who answered correctly were given a prize too!
18TH JUNE 2013
After breakfast, we left for Kanchananukroh School. Kanchananukroh School was selected to
be a World Class Standard School. We were required to introduce ourselves on the stage in
front of approximately 4000 students. We visited their library, art room, dance room and so
on. Their library was under the integrated library system, and it was a comfy place for
revision. Apart from this, we were given a chance to learn Thai traditional dances and try
out their musical instruments. During lunch, students from Kanchananukroh School danced
gracefully and sang melodiously on the stage for us. Later, we were given a chance to
perform on the stage. Malaysian students were talented too! After enjoying the
performance, we got into our groups and began the classroom observation. First, we went
to English class, followed by handcraft and gym class. As the day passed, we left
Kanchananukroh School before the school was dismissed. We had our dinner and gathered
in the hall to complete the previous task. Everyone was working hand in hand to complete
the paper work of presentation.

19TH JUNE 2013

Right after breakfast, we headed to the Bridge over the River Kwai. On the way, we stopped
by Kanchanaburi War Cemetery to pay respect to those who sacrificed their lives during the
railway construction. We continued our journey to Bridge over the River Kwai, also known as
Death Railway. We boarded the train excitedly awaiting the journey through the Death
Railway. Subsequently, we went for lunch at Saiyok Waterfall, the most popular attraction of
Sai Yok National Park. We enjoyed a picnic lunch with the sights and sounds of birds and
picturesque waterfall. At night, we had our dinner on the raft restaurant. Malaysian
students were dressed in formal attire and enjoyed the dinner on the raft. After dinner,
there was a karaoke session for all the participants and teachers.
20TH JUNE 2013

We gathered in the hall for the presentation that we had prepared the previous day. We
practised our dance again and again because we believed in our ability to do well. After
that, we did our self-preparation for the cultural night. Many hands make light work. With
the help of friends and teachers, we managed to dress up ourselves on time. Everyone was
in his traditional costumes which represented their countrys tradition and culture. We were
pleased to perform our traditional dance in front of the representative from theMinistry of
Education and teachers. We managed to accomplish our dance performance perfectly.
Then, we exchanged souvenirs with Thai Students and teachers. In the meantime, we took
photos. We were also honoured to receive the certificates of participation and gifts from the
Ministry of Education of Thailand. Lastly, every participant from both Malaysia and Thailand
form a circle and was given a chance to say goodbye.
21ST JUNE 2013
It was our last day having breakfast in Kanokan Place. We sang the last song together with
Thai students before leaving Kanokan Place. We took a 2-hour drive back to Bangkok. Then,
we were given an hour to do shopping in MBC Mall, and everyone managed to buy some
souvenirs in an hour. After that, we had our lunch at New World City Hotel. Right after our
lunch, we headed to Bangkok railway station and boarded the train. Everyone enjoyed and
cherished the moment we shared together.
22ND JUNE 2013
All good things must come to an end. It was really hard to say goodbye since they had
become parts of my family. It was quite a feat that we met each other and overcame all the
ups and downs together without grumbling. It was like a special bond between us. This
meeting was once in a blue moon and I would remember all the moments we shared
together. Families were always together!
