Introduction
We have all lost some teeth recently in our classroom and we all have talked about how
we got money after we put our tooth underneath our pillow. Some of us (Mrs. Meister!) have
even tried to catch (but she got away!!) the tooth fairy for show in tell. Which got me thinking!
What do children from different countries do when they lose their teeth? Do they also put the
tooth under their pillow and get money or do they do something different? It is your job to find

out! You need to create a poster about a different country and tell the class through a presentation
on what kids in other countries do with their teeth.

Task
Students will be creating a poster that shows information about how/ What other kids
from a different country other than the United States do with their teeth and how it is similar or
different to the how kids in the United States do with their teeth.
Questions to Consider:
What country did you pick and why you picked the country?
What do the kids in that country do with their teeth? (Ex. Do they have a tooth fairy? Do they
bury the tooth? What do they believe in?)
What are the similarities between the country and the United States? Please provide at least three
examples.
What are the differences between the two countries? Please provide three examples.

The Process
Once you have chosen the country you are researching, consider these aspects in order to create
an informative poster:

What will you need to create on your own to complete the task?

Do you have enough information to complete the task?

If not, what else is needed?

What resources did you use on your country in order to research it?
Does your poster talk about the countries traditions about teeth?
Does your poster talk about the similarities and differences between the two countries?

Are there pictures included in the poster?

Do you have all the information you need?

Have you checked the rubric and task to make sure that you have completed all aspects of
the task?

Conclusion
The students will learn about the many different interpretations of the traditions that we as
Americans know. The students will learn about the similarities that the United States share in the
tradition of the tooth fairy as well as the differences. The students will hopefully accomplish
cultural sensitivity when looking and learning about the different cultures and traditions from
around the world.
