BALTIMORE CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT - DELEGATION BRIEFING BCHD is working to ensure that health related services continue with as little interruption as possible. Although we are constantly adapting our services to the evolving demand across the city, below is a brief overview of the Health Departments efforts. Emergency Operations Center Participation: * BCHD has a continuous presence at EOC © We have also activated an internal Health Department command center to support EOC operations and coordinate provision of health services Existing BCHD operations «Field Health Services: © Life-saving transports only Mon/Tues/Wed ©. These services have continued to be delivered without incident © Health Clinics: © Druid Clinic * Closed early Mon and all day Tues and Wed ‘We notified patients of closure and asked them to go to Eastern Clinic * Weare in the process of considering reopening the Druid Clinic tomorrow o Eastern Clinic = closed Tues aftemoon due to a fire in a dumpster outside ‘* Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Services: © Closed Tues due to security concerns © Reopened today ‘* Senior Centers/ Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) © Wellness checks were made of ALFs in targeted area - total of 132 facilities. * No operational issues = Some ALFs and nursing homes are imposing special curfews or not granting leave of absences. © Alll Senior Centers were Closed Tues; = BCHD Dept. of Aging provided 20 emergency meals to Penn North Senior Center * Meal delivery has continued and been augmented as necessary © Meals on Wheels in full operation Assistance with citywide operations © Hospitals ‘© Constant contact with emergency planners every hour © Messaging for hospital leadership and emergency department leadership © Ensure staff can get to work, helped with understanding curfew for staff = We worked with State partners to communicate with hospital staff regarding potential hot spots that could impact staff ability to reach work + Pharmacies/Prescription Dugs © In coordination with DHMH, prescriptions placed at pharmacies closed due to the events have been sent to alternate pharmacies and can be located by calling 311 ©. Prescriptions for Substance Abuse: * BHSB is coordinating provision of substance abuse medication to patients of clinics impacted by events © Transportation Issues: * We are coordinating with other agencies and State partners to transport individuals unable obtain medication to the pharmacies « EMS © MIEMSS coordination with other jurisdictions and EMS © Working with BCFD and State to ensure services continue safely and uninterrupted ‘Citywide trauma counseling/mental health response: ‘© Ensuring 24/7 availability of mental health crisis services; * Providing group counseling and support for community members through schools, religious institutions, and community organizations; and © Coordinating availability of mental health resources and matching them with ongoing need to promote citywide healing.
