Trice 1 Alisha Trice Professor Raymond UWRT 1103 5 July 2015 How I Learned to Write Growing up I was always studious and loved to read and write. My mother encouraged ‘me to read and write at home. She would always buy me small doodle books to carry around and Practice my penmanship with, My mom would make me write and rewrite sentences until they were perfect. I remember her reading to me at night and making me explain the plot of the story before bed. She would also make me reading to her daily for about an hour. She was very hand‘on because spévranted me to exceed further than herself. She graduated high school but / »portunity to go to college because she had my brother and me when she was never had the Even though my mother was tough on me she made a big impact on my writing My fifth grade teacher really pushed me to write and read. She made me join the book club and enter many writing competitions. Even though I didn’t enjoy the competitions, she rewarded me even if placed in the competition or not; which encouraged me to join the competitions. She was always at a parent teacher conference or a school event when my mother was busy working. I loved reading with her because she would react dramatically to my reading which made me more enthusiastic reading with emotion. Trice 2 Now I have three younger siblings I read to. I also help my six year old sister write and read. She loves when I read to her. She’s been very essential in the development of more advanced reading and writing because I learned to simplify my writing for average readers and explain complex concepts to my reader through my writing. I learned that writing is one of the ‘most important ways to communicate with someone.
