Professor Raymond Unit 1101 WP#L July 1, 2015 ‘My mom is the main person who taught me how to read and write. She is very supportive of me and always wanted the best for me. I didn’t even enter regular daycare until] was 18 ‘months old because she didn’t want me calling anyone else “mom” by accident, She wanted to be there to see me crawl, walk, and talk, She read to me constantly and sang an Alphabet lullaby ‘She told me that eared to write my name before I entered the pre- K program, which thought was interesting. She stated that “writing came easy to me.” The tester forthe Pre-K program told my mom that Iwas too advanced forthe pre-K program. This suprised my mom because she thought the purpose ofthe program was to advance the student, Luckily there was @ new pre-K program opening up in our neighborhood and there was a slot for me because they needed the numbers to fund the program. Being in this program helped my mom save some money frém dayear expense and it gave me a chance 1o help the other kids with their words, My teacher's side Miss Whitsett old my mom playing teacher was my favorite game. \ Myon tougit cing books fom Ea-Ply to help me wih the eters and words and together we practiced, practiced, practiced. She also bought the Hooked oa Phonics program ‘hich had beginner to advance reading tools with lash cards, vocabulary building list, and books for differen stages of reading. She was Very determined that I get a good foundation in reading and writing. She wanted tobe a teacher t fest when she tated college, but changed to business later on. She also taught me how to write in cursive, She was very disappointed that the curriculum only spent alfa semester in the thind grade on cursive. She went out and gathered ‘more material in cursive so that I could both write and read it which was one of the reasons the teacher gave her for not using cursive in the classroom, “most children cant ead cursive” \ naa My varie books wore Bible tore, and elas princess stories (Cinderela Pocahontas, Aladin, et), bt Green Eggs and Ham by Dr Seuss was the one Tove to ead over and over again at rst.
