WELCOME TO TODAYS CLASS!!

Approximately 17 percent (36 million) of American


adults report some degree of hearing loss.

Universities and post-secondary programs must provide


equal access to deaf and hard of hearing students.

Please prepare to use your smartphone for some more


text polling questions.

When using Blackboard Collaborate, you can use closed


captioning accommodate the needs of deaf students.

To start with youll have to grant yourself permission to


enter close captioning.

And youll have to give permission for your participants


to view and or enter closed captions.

Then open the closed-caption input window to enter text for


captioning. This can also be used to close the CC window

font, color and size here too.

When youve finished entering closed captioning, be sure


to save your work by selecting the box at the top right.

If you are having difficulties hearing others, or being


heard, check your microphone and speaker levels.

Select the circled items to increase or decrease the font


size of the chat text.

Emoticons are added to your chat by clicking on the


smiley face in the right side of the text entry window.
