BEING CIVIL

Under the Religion or Belief Regulations 2003, employers cannot


discriminate on those grounds. In Ladele v London Borough of Islington
and anor, the Court of Appeal said, however, that a registrar was not
discriminated against because of her religious beliefs when she was
threatened with dismissal for refusing to carry out civil partnership

SCHOOL DAYS

The Race Relations Act outlaws discrimination on the ground of


someone’s colour, race, nationality or ethnic or national origins. In R v
Governing Body of JFS, the Supreme Court said that the admissions
policy of a school that gave priority to children recognised as Jews
under an Orthodox test was contrary to the RRA. More…
