1. Designate the first point as BMa and the last point as BMb.

2. Set up the automatic level on a convenient location along the route between
BMa and BMb. Take and record the backsight on on Bma.
3. Direct the two rodmen to move along the route and establish two turning
points (TP1 and TP2) which are preferably near each other and having an
elevation difference of at least one half meter or more. Take and record the
foresight on the two turning points.
4. Transfer and set up the automatic level at another location beyond the two
turning points along the route. Take and record the backsight on the two
turning points.
5. Repeat the procedure number three and four until a foresight is finally taken
at BMb.
