It is what takes Jesus from being just someone to be admired and appreciated — and presents Him as the One who is to be forever worshipped, and bowed down before. He is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. He is the Author of our salvation. He is the Cornerstone we build our lives upon. He is the Light of the World, and ‘the Lamb who was slain. He is the Resurrection and the Life, the Firstborn from among the dead, who came to us from the Father, full of grace and truth. There is only one name by which we are saved — Jesus, only Jesus. “Who has the power to raise the dead? Who can save us from our sins? — He is our hope, our righteousness — Jesus, only Jesus.” So many of the questions and heart cries we have in this life can be answered with that very same phrase — “Who can help me start again, bring about a fresh beginning, where I've messed up?” Jesus, only Jesus. “Who can give my life some sense of purpose — a hope and a future?” Jesus, only Jesus. “Who will be with me in the dark night of the soul? Who will defend me as | walk through the battlefields of this life?” Jesus, only Jesus. He is the center of it all — before all things, and in all things. And He is holding our —fragile lives together. When all other hopes have faded away, and all other claims are found to be empty — there He stands - just as strong and loving as He ever was.
