MEANING OF
GLOBALIZATION
AND
DEVELOPMENTS
THAT
CHARACTERIZE
GLOBALIZATION

GLOBALIZATION
- Is the process by which
money,goods,information,and
people move across nations at
pace
on
magnitude
made
possible by rapid advances in
communication technology and
travel.
-Radolf David (2001) G

-Is the process of international

integration arising from the
interchange of world views,
products, ideas and other aspects
of culture.

DEVELOPMENTS
THAT
CHARACTERIZE
GLOBALIZATION

1. TECHNOLOGICAL REVOLUTION

Globalization
has
produced
an
exponential expansion of scientific and
technology. New communities called
digital communities across
the
world are created in spite of
distance and time.

2. NEW POWERFUL ROLE OF THE CORPORATION

IN OUR SOCIETIES

- as multinational corporations increase in

size and power, their control and influence
impinge on more and more people. World
affairs could now be explained as the
interaction between what is a new product,
service, and updated technology since the
Internet advertises all of the everyday. This
shows that indeed, people of today live in a
consumerist society as corporation is
taking over all aspects of their lives.

4. GLOBALIZATION INTEGRATION
- The continuous advancement in

Information
&
Communication
Technology (ICT) pushes and sustain
the process of globalization. Social
networking sites (ex. Facebook &
Twitter) has ushered in global
integration of variety of people from
different
cultures, age groups,
professions, religious and the like.

4.

REDUCTION OF TRADE BARRIERS

AROUND THE WORLD

- The forces and characteristics of

globalization tend to have collapsed
traditional boundaries among nations,
regions and among ethnic divides. The
opening of international trade provides
consumers with a wider variety of
goods and services.
