Take

The
Submarine
Calgary,
AB
–
Lunchbox
Theatre
takes
audiences
on
an
adventure
through
Scotland
with
the
world
premiere
of
Michelle
Deines’
The
Submarine,
running
March
8
to
April
3,
2010.
In
The
Submarine,
which
was
developed
through
Petro‐Canada
Stage
One,
a
brilliant
young
engineer
travels
to
Scotland
to
solve
the
mystery
of
her
missing
submarine.
The
journey
takes
her
to
places
she
had
never
imagined
and
she
learns
a
lot
about
love,
loss,
courage
and
sheer
tenacity.
“The
Submarine
is
a
beautiful
story,”
says
Pamela
Halstead,
Lunchbox
Theatre’s
Artistic
Director,
who
will
be
making
her
directorial
debut
at
the
company
with
The
Submarine.
“After
the
disappearance
of
the
submarine
she
designed,
Cordielia
travels
half
way
around
the
world
in
search
of
her
creation.
Her
determination
to
find
it
and
to
ensure
it
is
used
for
the
purposes
for
which
she
created
it,
are
truly
inspiring.”
In
order
to
find
her
submarine
Cordelia
must
enlist
the
help
of
Murdoch,
a
gruff
and
angry
fisherman
who
knows
the
Hebrides.
“Michelle
Deines
has
written
a
beautiful
story
of
these
two
people
from
different
worlds,
not
only
geography
but
in
how
they
navigate
the
world
around
them.
The
clash
of
old
and
new
worlds,
science
and
mysticism,
despair
and
hope.
The
Submarine
is
a
mysterious
and
magical
ride,”
adds
Halstead.
The
Submarine
features
Esther
Purves‐Smith
and
Trevor
Leigh.
Helping
Cordelia
find
her
way
through
Scotland
to
her
submarine
are
director
Pamela
Halstead,
assistant
director
Kathryn
Waters,
and
designers
Becky
Solly,
Amy
Paterson,
Shauna
Breslawski,
and
Jonathan
Lewis
with
dialect
coach

and

Schlosser.
The
Submarine
runs
March
8
to
April
3,
Monday
to

at

with

Hour’
