Simulation using Dummy values for Pipelines;

The pipeline distribution for Karachi on a 1Km x 1Km grid is shown below. The diagram shows
the length of pipelines, in kilometers, per grid.

A simulation was performed on this data, using a random hazard source and dummy ductility
parameters for the various types of pipelines available. The results of the analysis are shown
below.

The regression equation proposed by HAZUS, calculates the repair rate for a particular hazard.
This repair rate is then multiplied by the total length of the pipeline in a grid to calculate the
expected number of repairs throughout the length. Furthermore, the types of repairs are
categorized as either breaks (rupture) or leaks. HAZUS distributes the total number of repairs
onto 20% breaks and 80% leaks, for ground shaking.
